SIKU respects Indigenous knowledge and strives to protect it from misuse while encouraging its mobilization for the benefit of Indigenous self determination. To achieve this, SIKU uses a Stewardship framework with controls on who can export posts based on the following defaults:
Indigenous Stewardship
Indigenous organizations affiliated with the tagged community may steward posts.
Project Stewardship
Tagged projects may export users’ posts if they are a project member. Learn More
Custom Stewardship
Other users, projects and organizations may be manually added as custom stewards by post owners on an individual basis.
Ice Watch Stewardship
Contribute ice data from my posts to community ice products on SIKU for hazard mapping and knowledge transfer purposes. Ice data collected will never be shared outside of SIKU without your permission. Learn More
